Mission Statement

“Torfaen Family Information Service will provide free quality, accessible and impartial information, guidance and advice on the full range of childcare, services for children and young people and family support services. The information held will be led by the needs of children and young people, their families, carers, employers, professionals, local and national government and their agencies.”

Core Entitlement

Our users can expect:

  • To know how to contact the Family Information Service and how it can help them through a statement of service;
  • Their enquiry and any personal circumstances to be treated in confidence;
  • A service which is impartial, objective and accessible;
  • Their enquiry to be dealt with efficiently, the Family Information Service will aim to process the enquiry within 5 working days. Where this is not possible, the enquirer will be notified of the delay and the reason;
  • Support and guidance to help them identify their requirements;
  • An explanation of the different types of childcare provision available to enable freedom of choice and to make an informed decision;
  • Detailed, accurate and up-to-date information about all registered childcare provision in their area which might suit their individual needs;
  • Detailed, accurate and up to date information about a range of other services and facilities for families in Torfaen, including national helplines and relevant organisations;
  • Access to further help and guidance about wider children’s issues;
  • The opportunity to comment on the service they have received to aid improvements.
