Torfaen Local Parks and Play Area's
Parks and play areas are a brilliant place for children to explore and have fun, within an outdoor space. What many children and adults don't realise is while children are having fun in parks and play area's, they are learning or enhancing new skills that can then be transferred into everyday life.
An example of some of these are:
Personal, Social and Emotional Skills
- Making friends
- Sharing and turn taking
- Communicating
- Listening
- Playing cooperatively
- Conflict resolution
- Boost self-confidence and self-esteem
- Problem solving
Physical Development
- Coordination
- Develop spacial awareness
- Balance
- Speed
- Development gross motor skills and fine motor skills
- Develop hand-eye coordination
Creative and Imaginative Development
- Developing make-believe games
- Acting out stories or scenarios by themselves or with others
- Role playing
There is no doubt that parks and play areas have a positive impact on children, but they also greatly impact the local community. Local parks and play area's also provide a place where families and friends can spend time together and connect with new people. Communities can come together getting to know each other, this could be incidentally or from local groups forming and making the parks and play areas their meeting spot.
If you have a child age birth to 4 we also have some lovely Frost School sessions that the Early Years team facilitate.
